The Role/Requirements:

The Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for setting future direction for what technologies and techniques will be used to provide data and analytics to the enterprise. This position leverages advanced knowledge of cloud platforms, analytics software technologies and strategies, data architecture and strategy, technical designs, architectural standards and best practices to lead the development of analytical solutions to support key business processes and business users. This position provides leadership to a systems development process including business requirements gathering, system/technical design, coding and testing, implementation, and production support/on-call. This position is also responsible for collaborating with the business to understand business processes and the requirements associated with requested changes, leading design of solutions tailored to improve existing business processes, and shepherding work through other IT departments. This position works with cloud-ecosystems and analytic platforms, Enterprise-level Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), multi-dimensional warehouse structures and visualization front-end tools and will lead testing of developed solutions at multiple levels of system integration to ensure system stability and data quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide thought leadership on projects involving analytics (Enterprise BI, Advanced Analytics, etc.).

Lead the organization in the development of data architecture and data modeling standards.  Set best practices for data structure within the organization.

Support enterprise software design standards and help team members appropriately follow team best practices. Help keep development best practices current and relevant.

Be an owner of the Client analytics toolset (search-and-exploration, enterprise analytics, etc.). Gather and promote best-practices and usage of the toolset. Conduct forward-thinking research to keep the tools current and relevant.

Set future, strategic direction for the team, including platform selection, tool usage, and process changes.  Partner within the Client TECH organization to successfully integrate other teams into the Client analytics products.

Work with technical teams within group as well as outside group to ensure effective delivery of systems. Promote the team perspective throughout the TECH department.

Understand and promote best practices for testing for the department. Assist junior team members in development of test plans and scripts (individual, system integration, business partner).

Perform root cause analysis and fixes for complex product defects. Resolve complex deployment, warranty, and post warranty issues and defects.

Know and understand emerging technologies in analytics and cloud tools, data modeling, and general cloud software enablement.

Be up to date on current industry trends, technology offerings and best practices, and through participation in knowledge sharing, educate the team on the same to effectively tackle current projects.

Know and understand the company's business requirements. Translate business requirements into effective business intelligence and big data architectures and solutions.

Develop strategies and direction for analytics and cloud tools and enabling software using current and emerging technologies.

Responsible for designing and implementing business intelligence and cloud data solutions.

Develop technical architecture standards, guidelines and best practices.

Lead any size projects as assigned; provide technical and thought leadership to multiple projects simultaneously. Lead projects, communicate to mid and senior management, provide direction, and influence outcomes. Review the work of others, including external vendors.

Represent the team perspective when reviewing third-party packages with analytics capabilities.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience.

10 years of IT work experience in system data analysis, planning, architecting, designing, programming, system admin, implementation and maintenance of data applications across multiple application domains and technologies.

Successful completion of at least one large-scale database implementation

Require advanced experience in Data Modeling:

Relational and non-relational structures

Canonical data models

Star Schema

Cloud data stores

Data modeling software (SQLDeveloper or ERWIN data modeler preferred)

Recent experience in any Cloud ecosystems (Azure) and related development libraries:

Cloud Storage technologies (such as Snowflake, ADLS)

Virtualization platforms (such as Synapse)

Streaming (such as Kafka)

Search technologies (such as Elastic)

ETL/Data movement (such as Azure Data Factory)

Kusto Query Language (KQL)

Platform migration and data pipelines

Advanced experience in Traditional BI:

SQL and SQL Tuning

ETL tools and design documentation: Oracle Golden Gate/ Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)  or similar tools

BI software: OBIEE / PowerBI / Tableau

Prefer experience leading technical projects or acting as technical team lead.

Experience in advanced analytic techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), or statistics a plus.

Prefer experience with agile or iterative software development methodologies.

Must be able to follow a software design and development methodology for the specific role required on a project.
