New Zealand Customs Service protects and promotes Aotearoa New Zealand through world class border management. We're looking for a Senior Advisor to join us as an Authorising Officer in our Intelligence, Investigations and Enforcement (II&E) group, where you'll help guide work disrupting transnational organised crime.
MŠtēnei tūranga mahi | About the role…
In this role you'll advise the II&E Group Manager on effective operational plans that anticipate and manage risks associated with operational deployments and covert intelligence collection and enforcement work, to make it safe for our teams in the field. You'll understand and manage organisational impacts of II&E work, and provide strategy and guidance around legal and moral frameworks for conducting search and surveillance activities; and developing and protecting intelligence sources. You will be part of the II&E Leadership team promoting the II&E strategy, whilst supporting the delivery of operational activity in a safe and secure way, maximising outcomes.

You'll need good knowledge of running security intelligence led operations, operational tradecraft, counter intelligence techniques, operational security, operational technologies and systems; application of legislation, and experience managing health and safety risks associated with law enforcement or security intelligence operations. Your sound judgement, thought with strong leadership and people skills will help you shape and manage change as we expand our work targeting transnational organised crime.
Above all, you will be a strategic thinker who builds successful relationships, with the ability to influence change, and inspiring people to innovate and deliver. We'll draw on your excellent verbal and written communication skills to connect with our stakeholders and create clear and compelling documents and plans.
