What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will be a member of the Funding and Liquidity (F&L) team working closely with other team members across our global platform to source and manage RBC’s liquidity risk. Specifically, you will work within the Global F&L team with a focus on Portfolio Management, actively monitoring risk including market, credit and liquidity. You will contribute to the profitable trading of the Global F&L books through idea generation, analytical and operational support to execute the Global Portfolio strategy.

The F&L team works closely with Capital Markets and Corporate Treasury to optimize funding sources, liquidity management and balance sheet structure.  The team trades a variety of fixed income products including high-quality bonds, swaps, loans, deposits and CP/CD issuance, among others. The F&L team has offices in Toronto, London, Luxembourg, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo

What will you do?

  • Develop a deep understanding of how the F&L business operates both in North America and across the globe
  • Manage credit, interest rate, and liquidity risks
  • Assist in achievement of F&L revenue targets by providing support to the North American team
  • Identify and execute profitable trade opportunities across the global platform
  • Manage and drive the new issue process through our Cross Platform Collaboration model
  • Contribute to regular market update, weekly economic and credit calls and issuer meetings
  • Keep up to date and communicate market developments  with all F&L staff globally
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships with traders and stakeholders within RBC (e.g. DCM, GRM, Product Control) in addition to external counterparties
  • Keep the Directors and Managing Directors of F&L updated on issues relating to the business
  • Advance the team’s technological ambitions through innovative ideas and implementation

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Undergraduate Degree, and general knowledge and interest in Funding & Liquidity
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, quantitative and IT skills
  • General Capital Markets knowledge and interest
  • Financial modeling and Fixed Income research skills
  • Intellectually curious, self-starter and creative thinker
  • Ability to excel in fast paced deadline oriented environment
