What is the opportunity?
This position is the primary face of Market Data in front of third party data providers and RBC internal business partners globally. As part of our global Market Data team, this position partners with other Market Data teams, business and technology professionals located in RBC offices worldwide. Duties include providing leadership to ensure the procurement, negotiation and maintenance of market data contracts.
What will you do?
- Responsible for evaluating new market data products and providing recommendations on services or solutions design for RBC FG
- Provide “one-stop shop†expert counseling and support to global RBC user community on market data needs
- Participate in market data architecture forums and planning sessions as well as support to projects (supplying subject matter expertise)
- Develop a strong understanding of RBC businesses, services, procedures and processes in order to identify opportunities for improvements
- Business Engagement & Cost Management – work closely with business partners to formulate and implement solutions to enhance existing services/technology and improve processes
- Contract Management – Engage with Market data suppliers on a regular basis to procure and review contractual terms and agreements, ensuring all documents and internal systems are updated
- Research industry trends and provide guidance on alternative solutions for data and technology for various business partners
- Present to various business leaders on market data spend and trends
- Analytical work collecting information from multiple sources and requiring attention to detail
- Coordination and collaboration required with colleagues and partners located throughout the world
- Produce ad-hoc & monthly detailed reporting with valued added commentary, analysis and metrics
- Participate in market data planning sessions for projects (supplying subject matter expertise)
- Work closely with Market Data Compliance Operations/Engineering to ensure usage of contracted services/data is adhered to
- Maintain awareness of third-party market data licensing policies
- Evangelize RBC’s policies, best practices and third party licensing policies/regulations to internal partners
What do you need to succeed?
- At least 5 years' experience in Market Data procurement & contract negotiation and experience in technology/financial services environment.
- High level understanding of Market Data tools (MDM, FITS or similar) and control mechanisms (DACS, DART, EMRS) an asset.
- Client Focus, Strategic agility, Priority setting, Business acumen, Analytical Thinking, Aptitude for setting realistic expectations, Strategic business sense, Integrity and Trust.
- Proficient in Ms-Office Suite (Excel, Work, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong familiarity with Market Data suppliers and services.
- Experience defining clear solutions and strategy based on requirements presented.
- Strong presentation, interpersonal and relationship management skills.
