The Legal Services team is a shared service which provides advice, support, dispute resolution, litigation and tax technical services for Inland Revenue and works closely with Inland Revenue's customer segments. They're part of Customer and Compliance Services - Business. Legal Services is one of the largest government in-house legal teams supporting a diverse range of customers.

As an Analyst (L2) you will translate data into concise, easy to understand content to enable intelligence led decision making as well as supporting the delivery of the team's work programme through providing accurate data, project support and technical advice.

In this varied role you will:

  • Support key decision making by providing analysis and intelligence around our core business services and meeting customer demand
  • Support and enhance our reporting to meet business needs
  • Maintain strong collaborative relationships with Inland Revenue's analytical community and other key stakeholders of all levels
  • Support the team's performance by identifying opportunities to improve how and what we deliver
  • Present accurate and timely reporting, analysis, and findings to support the wider business & customer base
  • Assist in providing timely financial and business analysis to support management decision making
  • Identify trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Regular meetings with leadership to confirm analysis needs in line with business outcomes
  • Develop and implement data analyses, leverage data collection systems and other strategies to optimise overall performance
  • Act as a liaison, analysing and interpreting data involving our procedures, policies and workflows
  • Support to identify and evaluate key performance outcomes and recommend business plan updates

To be successful in this position you will possess some of the following attributes:

  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL (essential) and SAS
  • Curiosity and desire to add value for our team's stakeholders
  • Experience with Data Visualisation Tools
  • To be able to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines, as well as collaborating with team members to generate and share new ideas
  • Get up and go attitude with a keen drive to succeed
  • Knowledge of performance measure development processes, alongside experience in supporting and delivering performance reporting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in analysing and presenting complex information in an easy to understand, concise and meaningful way
  • Ability to quickly understand different work types and the different stage required to achieve completion
  • Experience in developing or enhancing systems to monitor or improve business delivery
