Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) Auckland are looking for a full time registered AOD clinician to work in our Altered High Youth Service based in Kingsland.

CADS are the largest Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) service in New Zealand working with over 15000 people each year. CADS provide free community and inpatient AOD treatment from a number of locations across Auckland. CADS are committed to empowering the community to discover healthier use of substances (harm minimisation) and to promote recovery and wellbeing.

The CADS Altered High Youth Service is a vibrant and innovative service for young people from the age of 13 to 20 years, who present in relation to their own, or someone else's alcohol and other drug issues. We are a mobile regional community team, based in Kingsland. We provide a service that strives to maintain and improve quality, standards of clinical practice, community and professional relationships and networks, and supports the growth and development of staff.

We are currently looking for someone from a relevant professional background who has initiative and is highly motivated to work as a full-time Youth AOD Clinician. Young people can experience poor access to primary care health services due to a number of factors, this role aims to enhance interface and liaison between DHB and primary care services including PHO’s, general practitioners, practice nurses and school health services in the wider Auckland region in respect to provision of youth AOD treatment for young people.

Applicants will be able to demonstrate a willingness and commitment to working in partnership with Maori and Pacific Island youth services and with a range of services and sectors such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, Oranga Tamariki (formerly known as Child Youth and Family/CYF), Non-Government Organisations, Education and Justice. A current full driver’s licence(both manual and auto) is essential.

Essential

• Relevant three year tertiary qualification and professional registration.
• Relevant knowledge of, and experience working with youth and their families/ whānau.
• Knowledge of the concepts and implications of harm reduction and strength based models, and willingness to work within these frameworks.
• Proven skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning and goal setting.
• Ability to develop and implement treatment plans in line with client goals.
• Experience in counselling and group work.
• The ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective networks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Full registration with professional body (dapaanz , nursing, social work, counselling or related fields)
• Full, clean drivers licence
• Legal right to work in NZ
• Ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work
• Ability to facilitate evening groups if needed

Preferred

• Clinical experience working with youth and their families/whānau.
• Knowledge of and working with Oranga Tamariki (youth justice and care and protection).
• Significant experience and/or training in the alcohol and drug field. 
• Relevant training in family work
• Relevant postgraduate health or education related tertiary qualification.
• Lived experience as a consumer or whanau member
• Experience in group facilitation
