What is the opportunity?

In support of RBC's journey towards an agile organization Tech Infrastructure Agile Center of Enablement serves as a catalyst for Agile Adoption in TI.  Enabling strategic priorities by mobilizing and supporting transformation Initiatives and driving the culture and behaviors needed to succeed with a client centric approach.

 

The Agile Delivery Manager leverages Agile, Scaled Agile, Kanban and traditional project management practices to support the delivery of a technology initiative. The Agile Delivery Manager will help the business and technology teams align on delivery and drives the removal of impediments that are impacting the team’s delivery objectives.  The Agile Delivery Manager will instruct and coach the teams to follow an effective and efficient process that will allow the team to become self-sufficient.

 

This is a 1 year contract, with opportunity to continue as scrum master 

 

 What will you do?

Facilitate high complexity or multiple medium to low complexity initiatives from initiation through release, provide oversight to ensure alignment with Agile/Scrum/Kanban practices including, but not limited to project kick-off, sprint, release and deployment planning

Accountable alongside the scrum team for the achievement of release objectives and results that meet LOB stakeholders’ needs and expectations.  Manage risk governance processes, operational planning, data steward engagement and vendor onboarding.

Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies, team problem-solving and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges; authority to execute against new approaches and escalate issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary

Continuously seek to improve team performance by promoting joint accountability of results and solving productivity issues; includes defining and tracking key team performance metrics to reinforce expected behaviors (velocity, unit test coverage, etc.) and continued improvement

Engage in and facilitate requirements, user experience and technical conversations across platforms and multiple levels of influence 

Communicate cross functionally, ensuring transparency of progress and outcomes, report team progress and accomplishments up and across the organization

Facilitate cross functional communication by written status updates, sprint/product demos and retrospectives

Provide proactive coaching to individuals (business and technology) and the team.  Influence and recommend continuous improvement of processes to optimize team productivity and drive the team to become self-organizing and self-improving in their delivery practices

 

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent applied experience

Advanced knowledge of traditional project management methodologies and frameworks, governance, risk assessment, change management, budgeting and planning - to coach teams to agile ways of working.

5+ years of progressive agile coaching experience, or equivalent experience serving as a change agent, helping organization plan, manage, and implement agile practices

Experience executing and implementing Agile practices in large, complex, scaled environments at the Portfolio level

Experience coaching agile team memebers to become self-sufficient in PI Planning and other multi-team events like Scrum of Scrums and retrospectives

 

Nice-to-have

Scrum/Kanban certifications, SAFe certifications

Degree in a technical area of study such as Computer Science

Understanding of technical concepts, such as DevOps, CI/CD, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), etc.
