About the role 

WorkSafe NZ is looking for an Advisor to join our high performing Regulatory Frameworks team, based in Wellington. 

The Regulatory Frameworks policy team works to ensure that the legislation WorkSafe administers supports it to operate effectively as a regulator and achieve its harm prevention goals. We do this by working collaboratively with the Health and Safety Policy team at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) on its regulatory work programme, providing the regulator's perspective.  

As an Advisor your primary focus will be on providing high-quality and timely policy and regulatory advice within WorkSafe. This will involve building strong relationships with technical experts, unpicking problems, analysing options, and providing solutions, including developing secondary legislation. You will also provide advice on our regulatory framework to external agencies and represent WorkSafe's interests on changes to other regulatory frameworks.

Key responsibilities:

• Providing high quality advice and support across WorkSafe 
• Analysing and problem solving
• Building and managing relationships across WorkSafe
• Leading and progressing the work allocated

Ideally you will bring:

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
• Strong critical thinking, analysis, and communication skillsGreat task and time management skills
• Knowledge of machinery of government and legislation development would be an advantage
• Experience in working in an operational policy or regulatory environment or with legislation would be an advantage
• Recent graduates or advisory experience from other government agencies is desirable
