Public Service in the regions
We work together to make a difference for New Zealanders ensuring our COVID welfare response is aligned to and supporting the national health response.
We do this through three key groups; Regional Public Service Commissioners, will coordinate and align the public service contribution across 16 regions, COVID Protect Framework Regional Leadership Groups (CPF RLGs) who will oversee and enable an effectively locally-led and delivered Care in the Community response, MSD Regional Commissioners will coordinate the welfare system response as part of the Care in the Community approach.
These three groups are supported by a number of teams, providing operational support, data, analytics and policy advice.
Coordination of welfare response
The COVID protection framework was introduced in October 2021. Under this framework, people with COVID-19 will be supported to self-isolate at home/in the community. MSD is leading the coordination of a welfare system approach that will support people with wellbeing needs to keep safe while in self-isolation. MSD is working closely with Health, and with other central government agencies, local government, iwi, Maori, non-government organisations and community groups to ensure that this response is inclusive, well-informed, effective, and equitable.
The MSD region for this role covers eight territorial authorities, incorporating three DHBs and unique communities with larger urban settlements, small townships and large tracts of rural land. The position would be located in New Plymouth but would provide advice and support relating to the whole of the region.
Purpose of the Advisor: Regional COVID Response Group
The Advisor will provide advice and support across a broad range of areas to the Regional Commissioner and the Director regional COVID Response Group, to implement and deliver on strategic and operational priorities for the Taranaki, King Country and Whanganui service region and support the CPF Regional leadership groups. The Advisor will contribute to activities that build an understanding of the welfare needs arising as a result of COVID-19 and assist in developing appropriate responses to those needs and for the community.
