Mō mātou - Our Organisation

At Kāinga Ora, ours is the important responsibility of transforming New Zealand's housing choices, outcomes and the entire housing sector by creating homes and communities that allow New Zealanders to thrive.

What is exciting about working for Kāinga Ora is getting the chance to make a real and positive impact on New Zealanders' lives. With skills, planning and purposeful action, our people are creating the homes and neighbourhoods that will build Aotearoa's future.

We are passionate about transforming New Zealand for the better. That includes being a trusted partner for Māori and iwi, protecting and enabling their rights, interests and aspirations under the guidance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Ko tā mātou mahi -  Our Role

We are seeking a budding Portfolio Management specialist to join a high performing Investment Management Office. Based in either Auckland or Wellington, you will help drive best practice portfolio management across our capital investment portfolios. Reporting directly to our Portfolio Practices Manager, you will support the collective effort of our team and establish yourself as a technical specialist supporting development and ongoing management of optimised portfolios.

You will work alongside our investment planning and development teams, and governance groups to ensure all portfolio management policies, processes and procedures are effectively administered, coordinated and applied with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness, supporting our aim that IMO customers see us as helpful and solution focused, and that investments are strategy-led and realise value for shareholders

You will enjoy working collaboratively with your wider portfolio and programme office colleagues, and partner units across the business to enable a complete view across our four portfolios and proactively support portfolio level governance and decision-making to improve business performance.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

As our ideal candidate, your peers know you as an energetic solution focused 'can do' person, with the ability to understand and engage with diverse groups and people, and balance their competing demands and priorities with calm pragmatism.

In addition to your relevant tertiary study and knowledge of Portfolio Management Methodologies, you will have hands on experience in portfolio management in a large-scale organisation, with proven experience in advisory roles.

You will have excellent stakeholder management skills, with a focus on collaboration and partnership, and a keen interest in the public sector structure, governance, processes and systems.

Nōu te rourou - What's in it for you?

This exciting role represents an ideal opportunity for a portfolio practice professional with a solid and broad base of experience to work with a talented team of like-minded experts, and to contribute in an impactful way to a growing organisation with an expanding set of responsibilities.

We offer competitive salaries, five weeks' annual leave and a benefits package including a range of insurances, flexible working arrangements and career development. These benefits are described in more detail here https://careers.kaingaora.govt.nz/a-great-place-to-work/benefits

As a Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities employee, we want to make sure that you have all the tools and support you need. We want to ensure you are healthy and have work-life balance. We also want to support and grow your personal and career development through on-the-job learning, training courses, secondments and study opportunities.
