We're looking for an outstanding individual to join our dynamic team working within Capability Development in a leading Emergency Management Agency.

Ko wai mātou | About

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides national leadership to New Zealand's distributed emergency management system. NEMA's primary focus is on the performance and capability of the emergency management system as a whole, across all hazards and all risks and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

In this role you will be working as an integral team member applying instructional design methodology to develop content, experiences, and other solutions to support the Emergency Management workforces to grow knowledge and capability. Your creativity, flexibility, engagement style, continuous improvement and solutions focused approach will support the creation of a range of products and their implementation including kanohi ki te kanohi and virtual courses.  The role will also enable you to develop your facilitation and trainer skills.

The position sits with the System Capability Unit that is responsible for leading the identification, design and implementation of strategies that will build the capability, capacity and resilience of the emergency management system across New Zealand. This includes the importance of exercises to test current state, apply lessons learnt and assure readiness.

We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes:

  • A relevant body of knowledge and experience
  • Experience in undertaking needs analysis and able to develop concise work scope briefs that frame up the work programme and deliverables.
  • Experience in adapting, designing and developing learning and assessment products and designing their successful implementation for agreed audiences
  • Experience in working with stakeholders and subject matter experts and the ability to find common ground achieving agreement on the needs, learning objectives, content, how it will be delivered and implementation
  • Experience in undertaking reviews and applying continuous improvement processes
  • Knowledge of adult learning and the NZ education system and experience of working with unit standards, assessments and moderation
  • Intermediate level experience in the Articulate suite
  • IT savvy, with creative flair e.g. using videos, simple animations to bring messages alive and an Intermediate level experience in the Articulate suite
  • Able to facilitate meetings with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience as a trainer, presenter or a desire to become a trainer
  • Experience in delivering agile and innovative solutions that also meet national standards
  • Experience working with networks, business and/or community groups, Central and/or Local Government
  • Personal commitment to understanding and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori

  • Able to travel domestically when required

The salary range for this role is $71,857 - $79,841 per annum including employer Kiwisaver contributions.

Due to the security requirements of this role, applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident.
