The key role of the Adviser is to support MPI to monitor, manage and improve its performance in relation to its strategy, resources and business plans, as well as meet its responsibilities to be accountable to Parliament and the public on its performance. This includes a range of activities such as delivering the organisation's key accountability documents, supporting decisions on strategic direction and prioritisation, and providing regular reporting on organisational performance to our senior leaders and others. Providing valuable insights into organisational performance through the use of data and producing effective and useful reporting are key elements of this role.
The Strategy, Governance and Performance Directorate is a dynamic place to work, offering an opportunity to contribute to projects across the span of the Directorate's responsibilities. The Strategy, Governance and Performance Directorate is part of the Compliance and Governance business unit, and its work contributes to ensuring there is confidence in the operation and direction of MPI. Our primary internal customers are the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in their collective role as the leaders of MPI and as Governance members.
The Directorate supports SLT to create a strong sense of common purpose throughout MPI and the primary industries by delivering and supporting organisational-wide strategies. We oversee the MPI governance framework – supporting SLT by ensuring decisions occur at the right time, at the right level with the best advice. It contributes to MPI meeting its external accountability requirements, through the provision of information on MPI's performance. As a result of our services, the Director-General (DG) and the SLT are well informed on the functioning and performance of the organisation and are supported to consider future.
