The Team Oracle Labs is the advanced research and development arm of Oracle. We focus on the development of technologies that keep Oracle at the forefront of the computer industry. Oracle Labs researchers look for novel approaches and methodologies, often taking on projects with high risk or uncertainty, or that are difficult to tackle within a product-development organization. Our projects extend to different application domains like cyber security intelligence, compliance, fraud detection, NLP for graphs, recommender systems, enterprise graphs, database optimizations, and more. The following are a few examples of current projects in Oracle Labs:

Oracle Parallel Graph AnalytiX (PGX) is a toolkit for graph analytics that supports graph algorithms, such as PageRank, graph queries with PGQL, and graph machine learning.

Oracle Database Multilingual Engine (MLE) enables developers to work efficiently with DB-resident data in modern programming languages and development environments of their choice.

Oracle AutoMLx combines a novel, iteration-free AutoML pipeline designed to quickly provide accurate models with easy-to-understand explanations, thereby making advanced machine learning accessible to any developer.

Oracle Labs Data Studio is a multi-tenant, multi-server, scalable and secure arbitrary code execution engine with a notebook frontend for building data science applications.

What Youll Do: Oracle Labs technology is now leveraged to boost the performance and functionality of various Oracle products and applications including the Oracle Autonomous Database. Our internship topics include, but are not limited to:

Demonstrate latest AI and ML techniques to improve the performance of Oracle Autonomous Database

Add or improve capabilities of the Oracle Autonomous Database such as: large scale graph processing support, execution of microservice logic closer to the data, etc

Demonstrate code generation approaches and domain-specific languages to accelerate data-intensive workloads from graph, relational and machine-learning domains

Explore how scalable graph machine learning algorithms can be implemented and used in various ML driven applications

Implement new features, enhance existing functionality, measure, and improve performance of various web-based data science platforms and graph applications

Improve AutoML and/or explainability for classification, regression, anomaly detection, and forecasting tasks;

Explore AutoML and/or explainability support for federated learning, model bias reduction, unstructured (e.g., NLP) and semi-structured (e.g., video/audio/graph) data, or generic models including GNNs, DNNs and/or RNNs

What Youll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications): To be considered for a Developer Intern position, you must possess the Objective Minimum Qualifications (OMQs) below. Please ensure that your application clearly indicates that you meet these OMQs, either on your resume and/or by uploading additional documents such as a transcript.

Are enrolled in a Masters or PhD degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent science/engineering field.

Have no more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience in the technology field (excluding internships, research and/or teaching assistant roles, and military experience).

Are proficient (i.e., able to complete coding projects with no assistance) in two or more of the following programming languages: Java, Python, C, C

Have completed coursework, projects, internships, and or research in three or more of the following technical areas: Algorithms

Compilers

Data Structures

Database Architecture

Deep Learning

Distributed/Concurrent Programming

Machine Learning

Object Oriented Programming

Have experience through coursework, projects, internships, and or research in at least one of the following: Python data libraries (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, Tensorflow and/or PyTorch)

RESTful Architecture

Web server frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot)

JS/HTML/CSS

UI component frameworks (e.g., React)

Have completed at least one internship, research assistantship, teaching assistantship, or equivalent practical experience working with the relevant technical areas noted above.
