We are searching for an experienced Administration Officer to join our Community Corrections team at our Service Centre in Tokoroa.

Mō te tÅ«nga | About the role

This is an opportunity to be part of a great organisation where you will support the Community Corrections team.  A large part of the role is made up of front-line reception duties, such as answering phones, taking messages, and greeting visitors.  This will be communicating directly with people in our management who are serving community sentences and working with our Probation Officers.

Other key responsibilities involve a wide range of administrative services including;

  • Liaising with organisations and services we work with
  • Processing files
  • Preparing documents for court
  • Purchasing materials
  • Record management and ensuring correspondence, reports and other documentation meet Department timelines and standards
  • Provide administration support across a varied team by co-ordinating meetings, external stakeholders relationships and filing

In this busy role you will enjoy working collaboratively as one team in a challenging and fast paced environment, be able to multitask, remain adaptable, follow and adhere to policies and procedures, and have sound judgement in prioritising tasks and activities to meet deadlines.

The salary range for this role is $46,429 - $55,203 and progression is dependent of required competency levels.  The work profile for this position is Monday to Friday, working a 40-hour week, 8.30am to 5.00pm, with some flexibility available.

  • Good knowledge of computer software and database systems including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), with the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Resilience when dealing with difficult situations in changing environments and a pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Exceptional organisation, prioritisation and time management skills
  • The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and manage sensitive information
  • A personable yet professional communication style – both verbal and written
  • The ability to develop, foster and maintain positive working relationships

You will need a Full New Zealand Driver Licence for this role.

Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen, New Zealand Resident Permit holder, Australian citizen or an Australian resident who holds a current Australian Resident Return Visa.

COVID-19 vaccination requirements

All people working inside prisons are required to be fully vaccinated as part of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021. People in prison are some of the most vulnerable to COVID-19 and due to the ease of transmission, extending the Vaccination Order supports the safety and wellbeing of our staff and people in prison.

As this role is part of Community Corrections you will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by April 28 2022. This includes having a booster vaccine within six months of receiving your second dose.
