Job Description
Key functions of the team include:
- Pricing of Individual Products (Investments, Savings, Pensions, Protection)
- Pricing of Group Schemes (annuities, Group Risk, Pensions)
- Providing analysis and papers for Pricing Committee
- Providing regular pricing to our Distribution Partners
- Working collectively with Product Owners to deliver successful product propositions to market
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to join an actuarial team and to ensure that the pricing of our products is accurate, thorough and is aligned to the company's strategic objectives. This role will cover both individual retail products and corporate products.
Key Accountabilities
Product pricing:
- Technical pricing lead providing expertise and specialist knowledge to assist the Product Owners
- Carry out and present findings of profit testing quantification for different product designs proposed by Product Owners
- Lead regular pricing reviews and ongoing monitoring of product profitability in order to make recommendations for changes where required
Market Knowledge
- Identify gaps and market opportunities to support achieving the companies targets for each product line
- Make recommendations and provide insight based on analysis and investigations so that products are adequately priced and risks appropriately managed
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work with distribution colleagues to develop client relationships and pricing propositions
Company Strategy:
- Contribute to and drive the development of the company's market pricing proposition and strategies for pricing
- Support in product-related strategy planning with a view to maintaining competitive edge
- Challenge traditional approaches to pricing to ensure New Ireland can drive competitive market advantages through a differentiated pricing approach
Governance and Reporting:
- Work with Finance on the development of pricing models which can be used for developing new and existing products
- Feed into regular reviews of pricing basis and presentation of changes to pricing committee
- Provide pricing support for regular HoAF and ORSA reviews
Team Work:
- Show flexibility to support daily pricing requirements of the team as required
- Manage a team of trainee actuaries providing support, guidance and leadership

The role offers the opportunity to work with arange of different departments including (butnot limited to) distribution, actuarial & finance,risk, customer service & operations andretention. It also offers the candidate regular dealings with senior management (MD, CFO,CRO,HOAF, Product, Pricing and Distribution Director) throughpresentations to the pricing committee.
Essential Qualifications
- Fully qualified actuary with a minimum2 years post qualification experience
- Minimum3 years relevant experience within Insurance or Financial Services
- Direct experience within the Insurance industry
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years relevant product and pricing experience with Life and Pensions products.
- Market knowledge and understanding of the competitive environment in the Irish market.
- Ability to balance competing priorities while retaining a high standard of work
- Given the degree of interaction with other parts of the business, strong interpersonal and communication skills are vital.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, experience of working with Prophet and/or other coding is also desirable.
